The Politics of Everything

May 30, 2018

When I first wrote down my purpose in creating The Politics of Everything I wanted to cover the issues that matter most to everyday people in the 21st century. In my weekly opener, I mention this episode’s topic as being one those big issues. We are discussing ‘The Politics of Motherhood’.

I speak to Kylie Ostle, a mother of three kids under 5, who launched her own business Mum Society in the wake of being made reductant from corporate life after having a baby. Kylie took that all-too familiar kick in the pants and turned this seed of an idea into a thriving community for other like-minded mums.

In this episode you will hear:

  1. How can we become better at self-care in the desire to be a ‘good mum’?
  2. How can we make it more the norm for dads to be ‘hands-on’ from day one?
  3. Tell us how Mum Society came to life and why did you decide to start a business while having little kids?
  4. Many experts say no generation has parented as intensely as our generation. Is there a risk we are taking motherhood too seriously?
